Joel TrammellSince co-founding NetQoS in 1999, Mr. Trammell – a 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award winner – has led the company to become one of the fastest growing in the U.S., with a rapidly growing list of more than 700 blue-chip customers and sustained profitability. In 2005, the Austin Business Journal recognized him as its Private Company Executive of the Year.

Joel’s achievements in information technology span more than two decades and include numerous positions of leadership and management, most recently with Advanced Micro Devices, UST Computers (where he was the President and CEO of the Austin-based provider of computer hardware and network services), and HomeSmart, a company that he co-founded in order to provide sales and marketing products for the residential construction industry.

Joel began his career as an Officer and Instructor/Division Director at the U.S. Navy’s prestigious Naval Nuclear Power School, instructing more than 400 naval officers in thermal sciences and nuclear reactor plant systems. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and the designation of Master Training Specialist before moving on to build products and solutions that would empower clients to solve their long-standing information technology problems.

Joel graduated Magna Cum Laude from Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He remains a recognized expert in network solutions and large-scale IT systems deployment. Joel also serves as the Chairman of the Board for NetQoS, Inc.


Dr. Cathy Fulton
Co-Founder and Executive Vice President
Chief Technology Officer
 

Cathy Dr. Fulton leads the NetQoS technical vision, integrating critical solutions with innovative products. Cathy has performed network performance research and consulting for well over a decade. As a highly recognized and credentialed expert in her field, Cathy is widely published in networking journals such as the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and IEEE Journal of Selected Areas in Communications. She is sought after to present her research and work for international conferences and technical events such as Networld Interop, IEEE Infocom, Computer Measurement Group, and the ATM Forum Traffic Management Group.

Prior to co-founding NetQoS, Cathy was employed as a Vice President for Smaqcom, a network consulting firm, and as a Research Scientist and Project Leader for Schlumberger. Cathy has provided consulting to major firms such as Cisco, Schlumberger, and Samsung, and has taught nuclear physics at the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power School. Since January 1999, she has been developing the NetQoS proprietary system for network performance management.

Cathy received her doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas, specializing in performance analysis of multimedia networks. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Texas A&M University.

Cathy has earned many outstanding distinctions over the years, such as National Science Foundation Fellow, National Defense Science and Engineering Fellow, Navy Achievement Medal recipient, National Defense Service Medal recipient, and Navy Master Training Specialist. In addition to these distinctions, Cathy is a member of the board of NetQoS, Inc. and is an active member of both IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).

Gene Trammell
Chief Operating Officer
 

GeneMr. Trammell manages the operational policies and procedures for the company and oversees cross-departmental functions such as employee training, travel, and recruiting. Additionally, he provides executive stewardship of all NetQoS partner-related activities. This includes oversight of all internal operations dedicated to NetQoS’ recent integration with Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) WAN optimization devices for enhanced performance reporting.

As the former Vice President of Customer Care for NetQoS, Gene oversaw the company’s Account Management and Customer Support organizations. His leadership contributed to building the company’s reputation for providing outstanding customer satisfaction: In 2005 and again in 2007, NetQoS earned the highest customer approval ratings ever recorded by independent research firm First Market Research, based in Newton, Mass. Among First Market Research’s findings: 100 percent of NetQoS customers gave at least a “favorable” rating of NetQoS products and services when compared with other vendors.
Gene has more than 28 years of experience in customer service leadership roles as well as technical project management. Most recently, at Zachry Construction Corporation, he led the company’s $45 million Forest Products Sector. Gene held numerous leadership positions at Zachry involving customer support, account management, and business development. As Director of Business Development for Zachry, he led sales, marketing and contracting for the company’s Maintenance Division and was responsible for the acquisition of $128 million in annual repeat revenue. Prior to Zachry, Gene was an Engineering Superintendent at Boise Cascade Corporation, where he managed capital programs of up to $63 million per year. Gene has also held positions as a Senior Project Manager for Alabama Kraft Company and a Technical Field Representative at Square D Company.

Gene earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana Tech University and is a graduate of the executive development program at Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University. He currently serves as President for the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Tech University Engineering and Science Foundation. He previously served on the Advisory Board to the President and the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board of Louisiana Tech University. He is a founding officer for the Lake Charles/Beaumont chapter of the Project Management Institute.

Brett Panter
Chief Financial Officer
 

BrettSince joining NetQoS in 2000, Mr. Panter has been instrumental in guiding the company to profitability while managing its rapid revenue growth rate. This growth prompted Deloitte & Touche USA LLP to name NetQoS to its list of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America for the past three years in a row (2004-2006).

Brett has more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting. Prior to joining NetQoS, he worked for Austin, Texas-based Powell, Ebert & Smolik providing business consulting and tax-related services. Brett also worked for KPMG’s tax division serving technology companies and high-wealth individuals, and for Ernst & Young’s audit division serving technology and manufacturing clients.

Brett is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.


Scott Sherwood
Vice President of Worldwide Sales
 

ScottMr. Sherwood has led the NetQoS sales organization since 2001, helping the company consistently increase revenue and acquire a who’s who of Global 2000 customers during a period of depressed IT spending. Under his leadership, NetQoS has become one of the fastest growing private companies in North America. Scott continues to drive revenue growth from NetQoS' expanding direct sales organization and reseller network.

Scott has more than 19 years of experience in network sales, management and consulting. Most recently, he served as director of sales for NetSolve, Inc., a provider of network services that went public in 1999. Scott built NetSolve’s reseller channel into a $6 million recurring annual revenue business.

Scott received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in computer information systems from James Madison University.


Steve Harriman
Vice President of Marketing
 

SteveMr. Harriman oversees all aspects of NetQoS' marketing activities, including product management, integrated marketing programs, media relations, and brand strategy to further increase the market penetration and awareness of the company's expanding product portfolio.

Previously, Steve served as Vice President of Marketing for Austin, Texas-based VIEO, where he oversaw the company's go-to-market strategy, including corporate and product marketing communications programs. Before VIEO, he served as Vice President of Marketing for Dallas-based Sterling Software's storage management business, where he helped double worldwide revenues in two years to $130 million before the company's acquisition by Computer Associates for $4 billion in the year 2000.

After beginning his career in IT operations and systems programming at large data centers in the United Kingdom and the United States, Steve joined Candle Corporation as a Product Manager for the Omegamon line of performance management products, where he launched the world's first multi-system, unified management console product.


Robert Machnacki
Vice President of Services
 

RobertMr. Machnacki leads the NetQoS professional services and consulting organization as it expands from product-related professional services to broader network performance management consulting offerings.

Robert has more than 20 years of experience in information technology organizations. Most recently, he served as a Client Business Executive with Amdocs, where he managed large accounts for the North American services and delivery organization. Prior to Amdocs, Robert was a Business Executive and Consultant with AIS Software and Consultants. Before AIS, Robert served as Vice President of Information Technology for Excel Communications, where he spearheaded IT development and maintenance initiatives with a $30 million budget.

Robert has a master’s degree in business administration from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management information systems from Central Michigan University.


Gordon Daugherty
Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategy
 

Mr. Daugherty leads NetQoS’ strategic planning processes and oversees corporate development initiatives such as market expansion opportunities, strategic investments and acquisitions.

Prior to joining NetQoS, Gordon served as Chief Marketing Officer for Britestream Networks, a provider of network security solutions, and President of the Americas for VCON, an Israeli-based supplier of videoconferencing technology.

Since starting his career at IBM, Gordon has held middle management and executive-level positions in a variety of functional disciplines, including sales, marketing, product management, and business development. While at Compaq, he led the North American product marketing efforts for the $1.4 billion networking, software and server options segment. At VCON, Gordon grew Americas revenue 340 percent in three years, enabling the company to reach $36 million and execute a successful IPO along the way.

Gordon has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Baylor University and is Founder and Principal of Shockwave Innovations, a marketing and strategy consulting firm.


Andrew McFarland
Vice President of Customer Care
 

Andrew McFarlandMr. McFarland leads the NetQoS Account Management and Customer Support organizations where he is responsible for ensuring customer success and satisfaction. This includes helping customers meet their network performance management challenges by making full use of the NetQoS Performance Center product suite.

Andrew has more than 15 years of experience in technology and business leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Director of Carrier Relations and Access Strategy with MegaPath, where he managed key supplier relationships with cable, wireline, and wireless carriers. Prior to MegaPath, Andrew was a Vice President of Network Operations at Broadwing Communications (now Level 3) where he was responsible for monitoring and maintaining the fiber optic transport, IP, ATM, and voice networks. Before Broadwing, Andrew served in various operations, customer care, and engineering roles with Sprint. Andrew began his career as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy.

Andrew holds a master’s degree in business administration from Virginia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Rochester.

Eddie Jennings
Vice President of Software Engineering
 

Eddie JenningsMr. Jennings has led the NetQoS Software Engineering organization since joining the company in 2002. Under his leadership, the organization has consistently produced feature-rich, timely, and quality product releases to help meet customers’ network performance management challenges.

Eddie has more than 26 years of experience in the commercial software product business, with 21 years in a leadership role. Prior to joining NetQoS, he served as the director for a software development organization within SensAble Technologies, where he led the development of a revolutionary touch-enabled 3D modeling product. Before SensAble, Eddie held leadership positions at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York, leading a product development team that developed a successful kiosk product as well as an R&D team responsible for a multi-company technology development effort. Prior to Kodak, Eddie worked at Intergraph Corporation, contributing to and managing a variety of 2D and 3D graphics and image processing product development teams. He began his career at Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Alabama.

Eddie received his master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Alabama, where he also studied computer science at the graduate level. In addition, he received two bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and music from Jacksonville State University.

Russell Wilson
Vice President of Product Design
 

Russell WilsonAs Vice President of Product Design, Russell Wilson provides the creative leadership and guiding principles to deliver best of class network performance management products that set the industry standard for software usability.

Wilson joined NetQoS as director of product design in May 2005 and has since led the user interface design of the company’s NetQoS Performance Center suite of products, with an emphasis on interaction design, usability, and the user experience. Working closely with sales, product management, and software engineering, he has implemented leading edge processes and tools that have enhanced the design of existing and upcoming NetQoS products. His design expertise and industry knowledge have helped NetQoS maintain its exceptional customer satisfaction ratings and ensure that ease of use remains a focal point of the company’s product development strategy.

With more than 18 years of experience, Wilson has been involved in the design and development of eight successful commercial products and more than 15 enterprise software applications for the Fortune 500. Prior to joining NetQoS, he served as the vice president of engineering for HyPerformix, a predictive IT management vendor, and president and chief executive officer of ALVE Technology, a call center management software company. Wilson began his career with IBM, where he held development manager and design lead positions.

Wilson is the Austin ambassador for the User Experience Network (UXnet), as well as the Austin representative for the Interaction Designers Association (IxDA). In addition, he is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Usability Professionals’ Association, as well as a requested reviewer and contributor to many design conferences. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a Master of Science degree in software engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
